SMART BLINDS MELBOURNE

PRODUCT WARRANTY

This Warranty is provided by Smart Blinds Melbourne, a trading name of Into Blinds Pty Ltd ACN 137 456 672 (Smart Blinds Melbourne, we, us or our).


1. Warranty

Subject to the terms and exclusions below, Smart Blinds Melbourne warrants that the following products supplied and installed by Smart Blinds Melbourne (Goods) will be free from defects due to faulty design, materials or workmanship (either in the Goods or installation) (the Warranty).

It is important that you read this document carefully and in its entirety to understand when the Warranty applies, when it does not apply, and how to make a claim.

This Warranty:

  • is not transferable
  • does not apply to DIY blinds or products not installed by Smart Blinds Melbourne

2. Blinds

2.1 Covered Products

(a) Roller Blinds (Holland Blinds)
(b) Vertical Blinds
(c) Venetian Blinds
(d) Roman Blinds
(e) Panel Glide Blinds
(f) Motorised Blinds
(g) Awning Blinds
(h) Twin Blinds
(i) Curtains
(j) Veri Shades


2.2 What is covered

(a) Five years replacement of defective materials and parts (unless otherwise specified)
(b) One year on overseas manufactured goods
(c) One year labour for:

  • repair or replacement of defective parts
  • resolving puckering under 2m width
  • rectifying manufacturing faults

2.3 What is NOT covered

(a) Material faults occurring after 30 days
(b) Expansion/shrinkage due to weather
(c) Puckering over 2m width
(d) Lines, creases or waves (allow up to 3 months to settle)
(e) Imperfections not visible at 1.5m
(f) Uneven rolling of linked blinds
(g) Drops of 3.3m or more
(h) Blinds under 600mm width
(i) Installation into non-standard structures (non timber/aluminium frames)
(j) Gaps up to 20mm (infit blinds)
(k) Curtain floor gaps up to 50mm
(l) Motor speed variation +/-10%


3. Doors

3.1 Covered Products

(a) Security Doors
(b) Fly Screens


3.2 What is covered

(a) 10 years stainless steel mesh
(b) 5 years galvanised mesh
(c) 2 years parts:

  • hinges
  • wheels
  • locks and handles
  • frames
  • grills

(d) 1 year labour


3.3 What is NOT covered

(a) Alignment issues after 14 days
(b) Damage after 7 days including:

  • tears
  • dents
  • scratches
  • mesh issues

4. Fencing

4.1 Covered Products

(a) Timber fencing
(b) Pool fencing
(c) Gates
(d) Picket fencing


4.2 What is covered

Materials and labour to rectify defects in workmanship for one year.


4.3 What is NOT covered

(a) Timber movement, splitting or natural changes
(b) Soil conditions affecting structure


5. General Exclusions

The Warranty does not apply to:

(a) Goods ordered prior to 9 February 2012
(b) Goods not paid in full
(c) Normal wear and tear
(d) Failure to follow recommended care procedures
(e) Misuse, tampering, unauthorised repairs or external damage
(f) Labour costs after 12 months
(g) Incorrect DIY measurement or installation
(h) Consequential loss


6. Warranty Claims

6.1 How to make a claim

Within 14 days of discovering a defect:

  • Notify Smart Blinds Melbourne
  • Provide proof of purchase

6.2 Service Fee

A $110 service fee applies unless:

  • the issue is covered within 12 months
  • or a consumer guarantee applies

6.3 Repair or replacement

Smart Blinds Melbourne will, at its discretion:

  • repair
  • replace
  • or reinstall

6.4 No extension

Warranty period does not restart after repairs or replacements.


7. Important Information

(a) Gaps between blinds and frames are normal
(b) Windows may not be perfectly square
(c) Operate blinds gently for longevity
(d) Roman blinds not recommended on doors
(e) Venetian blinds should be tilted rather than lifted regularly
(f) Child safety locks are installed as required by law
(g) Liability is limited to the product value
(h) Warranty is in addition to rights under Australian Consumer Law
(i) Repairs exclude painting


8. Australian Consumer Law

The Goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian law.

You are entitled to:

  • replacement or refund for major failure
  • repair or replacement for minor failure

9. Cleaning

  • Regular dusting recommended
  • Use lukewarm water for marks
  • No liability for cleaning damage

10. Outdoor Blinds Warranty

  • 5 years components
  • 5 years fabric

Excludes:

  • misuse
  • installation issues
  • storm damage
  • lack of maintenance

11. Track Blinds Care

  • Regular use improves performance
  • Keep tracks clean
  • Use silicone spray if required
  • Avoid harsh chemicals

12. Fabric Care

  • Clean with low pressure water
  • Use mild detergent only
  • Avoid high pressure cleaners
  • Allow blinds to fully dry before rolling up
